Depression Settling In

I thought that
Maybe a funny film
Would brighten
My outlook on life.
Yeah, Woody Allen
Made some movies
With mega laughs.
Only one I could find
At the movie rental
Was Manhattan,
Woody’s so called
Art film. Hadn’t seen it.
An hour and a half
Not even a chuckle.
Now my depression
Is a permanent state.
Hannah and her sisters
Should kick his ass.

  1. Manhattan is great from when I remember watching it in my youth. Black and white. Woody’s clear influence from Bergman. I believe it is also the one where his clear artistic surrogate in the film is dating an underage girl. His predilections if you will are also throughout his entire oeuvre when you really look. I do wonder if as a culture we need to reevaluate the notion of art more important than life. Art produced that sanctions exploitation seems far less valuable no matter how pretentiously its cinematography looks like that of Ingmar Bergman. Oh yeah, and the allegations against Woody Allen are pretty clear cut. Disgusting really. I believe there’s been a lot of investigative work done on it.

Injustices should make us feel depressed. We wouldn’t be human if they didn’t.
